KOTA BELUD: Usukan State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak, emphasised that in today’s fast-paced and technology-orientated job market, possessing skills is essential for personal success.
According to him, developed countries such as Germany, Switzerland, and Singapore have long recognised the role of vocational education and skills training as complementary to academic education.
“We need to change our perception of success. Academic achievement is important, but practical skills and work experience add significant value.
“Malaysia must strengthen its TVET system and elevate skills as a respected career pathway,” he said.
Salleh was speaking at the Kolej VIS Mechatronic Tuaran Briefing Programme at Dewan Pencarian Bersama Kota Belud today.
Also present were Datuk Mohd Pintaz Badar, Chairman of VIS Mechatronic College Tuaran; Datuk Jame Alip, Advisory Board Member of VIS Mechatronic College Tuaran; Dato’ Baror @ Baharul Bin Sawi, Secretary of USBO; Dr. Hj Japran Bin Hj Kusin, District Education Officer of Kota Belud; and Manickavasagam, Director of VIS Mechatronic College Tuaran.
Salleh stressed the importance of Malaysia adopting a culture of lifelong learning and fostering a younger generation that is adaptable, innovative, and responsive to the demands of the industry.
