KOTA KINABALU – The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah Branch has officially announced the newly elected Women Entrepreneurs Committee for its 3rd term.
Lam Lee Chin, the outgoing director, has succeeded Kapitan Dr. Tan Kai Lee as Chairperson, leading a dynamic team that blends fresh perspectives with experienced leadership in pursuit of new milestones.
The 3rd General Assembly of the Women Entrepreneurs Committee was held on March 15, with 29 members in attendance—representing an impressive participation rate of over 65%. In addition to the successful election of the new committee, the assembly unanimously passed three significant proposals aimed at advancing the development of women entrepreneurs.
The proposals, presented by outgoing chairperson Kapitan Dr. Tan Kai Lee, are as follows:
Establishment of an Entrepreneurial and Development Fund for Women Entrepreneurs This initiative aims to provide low-interest loans and facilitate access to resources for innovative projects led by women.
Promotion of Training and Mentorship Programs
Focused on enhancing business management capabilities, these programs will also foster cross-industry collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Expansion of International Market Connections
Through overseas study tours and business networking platforms, this proposal seeks to help women-led businesses explore cross-border opportunities.
Election officer Datuk Michael Chin, President of MCCC Sabah Branch, praised Kapitan Dr. Tan Kai Lee for her exceptional leadership and contributions to the committee.
He encouraged members to leverage opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), emphasizing innovation and social responsibility as key drivers of progress.
Datuk Michael also conveyed his confidence in Lam Lee Chin’s leadership, urging the new committee to strengthen teamwork, empower female leadership, and support the Chamber’s mission through practical and impactful initiatives.
In her address, Lam Lee Chin emphasized that her leadership would center on “pragmatic cooperation” to advance the growth of women entrepreneurs.
Currently the Director of Ruby Inn Hotel, Lam expressed her deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve as Chairperson.
“It is an honor to be elected. I fully recognize the responsibility this role entails,” she said.
“Under the guidance of Kapitan Dr. Tan Kai Lee and Datuk Michael Chin, we have gained invaluable experience. We will continue this legacy, further elevating female leadership and expanding our collective social impact.”
Lam also outlined three key strategic directions for the new term:
Strengthening Team Collaboration
This includes fostering strong internal cohesion, aligning closely with Chamber policies, and initiating cross-border collaborative projects.
Resource Integration and Networking
The committee will focus on building connections between government agencies, business communities, and international networks to unlock new opportunities and access training resources.
Implementation of Key Proposals
Top priorities include the execution of the Entrepreneurship Fund and International Market Expansion initiatives, along with other proposals passed during the General Assembly.
Lam concluded by expressing gratitude to committee members and stakeholders: “I look forward to working hand in hand with all of you to create a more open and competitive environment for women entrepreneurs in Sabah. Together, we can build a brighter future.”
