TUARAN: The Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) Kiulu plans to create a mini sports museum if the party is in the government after the 17th state election.
KDM Vice President Henry Saimpon expressed confidence that the establishment of this mini sports museum would significantly boost the tourism industry in Kiulu.
“Kiulu is already well-known for its eco-tourism attractions, particularly homestays and river rafting, but there is still room for improvement in attracting more visitors.
“One way to achieve this is by creating a mini sports museum that showcases the achievements of Sabah athletes, including those from our district in the past. This initiative would undoubtedly diversify the attractions in Kiulu, especially for youth and school students,” he said in his latest social media post.
Henry, a former Sabah football player who has also played for Johor in the Super League, mentioned that this vision is part of KDM Kiulu’s agenda leading up to the upcoming state election.
Henry, hailing from Kg Bongol in Kiulu, has also served as the manager of the Sabah football team, successfully leading them to victory in the Premier League and securing Sabah’s qualification for the Super League.
Additionally, he advocated for Sabah to have its own sports museum.
“Sabah athletes who have competed in the Super League, Sukma, SEA Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympics deserve recognition and should be remembered for their contributions,” he remarked.
As the Coordinator for KDM Kiulu, Henry also stressed the party’s commitment to paving the way for the establishment of Koperasi Belia in each of the Polling District Centres (PDM) in the future.
“We believe that youth cooperatives have the potential to assist village residents, particularly the younger generation, in enhancing their economic prospects in the long term,” he added.
Henry noted that sports events, especially football and badminton, will be further promoted within the PDM Kiulu.
He affirmed that KDM Kiulu is committed to intensifying efforts to improve infrastructure, education, economy, and agriculture for the benefit of the community.
