KOTA KINABALU: Public servants need to be more proactive and attentive to the needs of the people, as well as address issues related to the welfare of citizens in the state.
In making the call, chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor stated that all approved projects for the benefit of the people must be implemented as quickly as possible.
“I want all of you to be more proactive and aware of the people’s needs,” he said.
He emphasized that public servants should eliminate bureaucracy to simplify processes, especially in resolving infrastructure and basic facility issues like water and electricity.
Hajiji mentioned that the state government has implemented development strategies for the benefit of the people and has achieved significant success.
“This includes generating state revenue of RM7 billion last year through initiatives under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Development Plan,” he said.
He noted that investment-friendly initiatives have attracted investments to Sabah, with the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) fully occupied and the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) nearly full, showcasing this success.
According to him, the Commercial Cooperation Agreement (CCA) with Petronas means Sabah benefits from the oil and gas industry.
“At the same time, the state government is discussing ways for Sabah to gain more shares and benefits. This has never been achieved before, and we must maintain this momentum with everyone’s support and effort.” he said.
Additionally, Hajiji stated that the state cabinet has approved the hiring of more professionals, especially engineers needed in the Public Works Department and the Water Department.
He mentioned that these positions are being filled to ensure work efficiency.
“With this staffing, we hope to resolve issues like the water crisis, among others.” He added.
