She expressed confidence that the federal government and the Ministry of Works (KKR) fully understand the necessity of this project to alleviate the increasingly urgent traffic congestion in the main routes in and out of Sandakan.

Vivian made this statement after posing an additional question to the Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi regarding the issue during the ministerial question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur.

Vivian also requested the ministry provide data related to the average number of vehicles using the road, categorised by heavy and light vehicles.

“Clearly, this road is very important to be upgraded immediately to two lanes because, in addition to small vehicles, it is also used by heavy transport and logistics vehicles on the same one-way route from Batu 16 to Batu 32 every day,” she said.

Through the Minister’s response to Vivian, Alexander informed that his ministry has included phases one to three of the Libaran Bypass project from Batu 16 to Batu 32 Sandakan in the Twelfth Malaysia Plan, under the fifth round plan, where the project is currently in the process of approval by central agencies.
