KOTA KINABALU: Acting President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, said anyone can contest in any area, including the Kundasang State Assembly (DUN), but it is the people who decide.
He said this in response to the statement by the President of the Social Prosperity Party (KDM), Datuk Peter Anthony, who wants to wrest the Kundasang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat from PBS in the upcoming 17th State Election (PRN17).
“We are a democratic country where anyone is free to contest. Ultimately, it is the people who chose who they want to represent in the State Legislative Assembly. We are a democratic country where anyone is free to contest. In the end, it is the people who choose who they want to represent them in the State Legislative Assembly,” said Dr. Joachim, who is also the Kundasang assemblyman, in a media statement on Thursday.
The Deputy Chief Minister II said that he, together with the administrative machinery and PBS Kundasang task force, will continue to work and provide services to the people.
According to him, DUN Kundasang is rapidly developing, including in terms of infrastructure development, which is currently under construction, including road upgrades from Tarawas/Kaingaran and from Singgaron to Mansalu, clean water supply from the Pinawantai Mukim Timbua plant, clean water supply from the Wayan Mukim Malinsau plant/Kaingaran, and almost 85 percent already have electricity supply.
“Meanwhile, about 75 percent of small-scale projects in each village have already received mini councils.
“I will ensure that all the administrative machinery in the Kundasang State Assembly provide the best service and report to me directly since I am also needed at the state government level as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Local Government and Housing,” he said.
He also wants all PBS leaders and members to continue working hard for PBS because they are fighting together and it is for the people of Sabah.
