KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah UMNO Election Director, Jeffrey Nor Mohamed, asserted that the Madani Village Community Committee (JKDM) does not violate the Rural Administration Ordinance due to its distinct tasks and responsibilities.
He highlighted the challenge of proving any alleged contradictions, stating that accusations are easy to make but difficult to substantiate.
Jeffrey, who is also the Sabah UMNO Chief, raised questions regarding the proposal for Dato Seri Fadillah Yusof to review the relevance of the JKDM structure.
He pointed out that JKDM falls under the Ministry of Rural Development, headed by Dato Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Jeffrey questioned whether Datuk Fredian Gan (AMT PBS) implied interference between ministries with his suggestion.
He further suggested that such implications could indicate disarray within the Sabah state government.
Jeffrey also questioned whether the state government opposes the Madani government’s initiatives and whether it intends to distance itself from its partners once again.
Jeffrey said that instead of questioning whether JKDM is a national policy, the answer is yes since it has been discussed and approved in the cabinet.
“I ask everyone in the GRS government: if the appointment of JKDM is reviewed and appointments are made to GRS members, will they also continue with their objections?
Jeffrey said, as mentioned earlier, that the poverty rate in Sabah is very severe.
Sabah is one of the poorest states in Sabah. JKDM is part of an initiative to help eradicate poverty in Sabah, he said.
“Why is GRS so insistent on rejecting JKDM? Is the fate of the welfare of the people of Sabah not important compared to their positions?
“Is the GRS government upholding the principle of unity? UMNO and Warisan are part of the civil government, yet they are neglected and treated like opposition in the Sabah state government.
“Look in the mirror before speaking.
Before the state government sends an official objection, you better issue an official statement regarding 1) whether the Sabah state government considers the 40% royalty as just an “aspiration.”
“Secondly, is Tengku Datuk Fuad’s statement the official stance of the GRS government, and 3) is it true that the state government’s request to intervene in the case initiated by the Sabah Law Society is aimed at opposing the Sabah Law Society? he said.
