KOTA KINABALU: Suggestions and criticisms from opposition leaders should not be labeled as attempts to sabotage the GRS government administration.
Putatan Umno Chief Jeffrey Nor Mohamed said that it is important for every criticism to be constructive and beneficial.
He asserted that transparency is also one of the crucial elements in a state administration that practices democracy.
“I have never attacked anyone; instead, I provide views and suggestions. We live in a new political era where various options play a very important role.
“We cannot be rigid and static with any suggestions or criticisms while labelling any leader as a saboteur.
“This is because only suggestions or views from others are more attention-grabbing for the people of Sabah; any suggestions and criticisms are solely for the people of Sabah to get what they deserve,” he said.
Jeffrey made these remarks when commenting on the statement by the Information Chief of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, who urged the opposition parties in the state not to play politics excessively to the extent of sabotaging the state government’s efforts to bring development.
Jeffrey expresses his gratitude to Nizam for acknowledging and agreeing to the fact that he was once part of the previous government.
Regardless of the reasons, Jeffrey believes that all the benefits and blessings were received during the previous administration and questions whether it is solely due to governance that these circumstances are happening now.
“If what Nizam says is true, Jeffrey wonders why there is a need for GRS to collaborate with PH, as PH is also a coalition led and dominated by Peninsula parties.
“Does Nizam agree that PH Sabah is just a complement to maintain power? Jeffrey suggests that Nizam should differentiate between the nature of politics and political principles.
He emphasises that regardless of the party, their priority should be to champion the interests of the people.
