Keningau UMNO chief Nik Mohd Nazri Nik Zawaiwi said that UMNO is not a party that revolves around individuals, but rather a sincere struggle to uphold the sovereignty of the nation, religion, and race.

Despite facing various attacks and challenges from opponents, UMNO continues to stand strong and remains the choice of the people in this state, he said.

“We practice an open-door policy for anyone who wants to become a member and fight alongside UMNO. We welcome them without any conditions or financial incentives, positions, and so on, unlike other newly established parties that promise rewards for joining their party,” he said.

He made these remarks after receiving 265 new membership forms for UMNO in the village of Belilingi Lingkudau near here on Saturday.

Nik Mohd Nazri said that although there are those who are dissatisfied with the presence of UMNO in this state and attempt to bury it, and even carried out by former leaders who were once with UMNO, their efforts have failed because the people understand and remember what UMNO has done and fought for the development and prosperity of this state.

“Just look at Sabah; the development resulting from UMNO’s struggle cannot be denied. The Pan Borneo Highway, hospitals, education, and so on, which are funded by the federal government, are clear evidence that UMNO has brought about change, progress, and prosperity to be shared by the people of Sabah,” he said.

According to Nik Mohd Nazri, who is also the Chairman of the NGO and Young Professionals Secretariat of UMNO Sabah, although there are those who try to create internal conflicts and use UMNO as a stepping stone to attain luxury, UMNO does not succumb to such tactics.
