PUTRAJAYA – The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has confirmed that a light aircraft, the BK 160 Gabriel with registration number I-POOC, crashed near Kapar, Selangor, today (February 13, 2024).
The Chief Executive Officer of CAAM, Captain Norazman Mahmud, said that the aircraft, operated by Air Adventure Flying Club, took off from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, Selangor, at 1:28 PM for a recreational flight.
According to him, the last contact with the aircraft was reported at 1:35 PM with air traffic control, but no distress call was received.
Norazman, in a statement, said that the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Coordination Center Kuala Lumpur (KLARCC) at the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Center (KLATCC) was immediately activated to identify the aircraft’s location.
He said that there were two passengers, including a pilot, on board the aircraft, but the condition of both victims is yet to be determined.
He further mentioned that a thorough investigation will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport, in accordance with Section XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
