KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah defender Malim Surat and former Malaysian women’s player Nur Jannah Syuhadah Gabas Abdullah have joined the coaching staff of TABS SAFA Bandaraya and reported for duty this morning.
Both Sabah football icons, who are now coaches, will assist in conducting training sessions for the TABS football development programme, which takes place every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays.
Deputy Chairman 1 of TABS SAFA Bandaraya, S.A. Ramlye, confirmed the news and stated that another coach, a former Sabah player, will report tomorrow (Sunday).
He said that several other experienced coaches have expressed interest in joining the coaching staff, but it depends on their needs.
“If there is a need, we will add more coaches, as we currently have at least nine existing coaches,” he said while observing a training session at the TABS Sukma field here.
According to him, they will ensure that TABS coaches have the necessary certification and experience in managing football development programmes.
He said that this is important to ensure that the development programme is of high quality and gains the trust of the parents of the trainees.
“This is one of our plans to ensure that the development programme is in line with the TABS name and image,” he said.
