KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, 19 May 2023 – MYAirline is delighted to announce its participation in the government’s initiative to provide fixed fares during Kaamatan Festival and Hari Gawai. This strategic undertaking, mandated by the government, demonstrates MYAirline’s commitment to enhancing travel accessibility and affordability for both residents and visitors during these significant culture events.
The Ministry of Transport Malaysia has mandated in a statement yesterday that all airlines in Malaysia are to extend fixed fare to travelers for flights between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, as well as Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak. This move reflects the government’s commitment to fostering connectivity and promoting travel within the country.
As a responsible industry player, MYAirline takes immense pride in offering fixed ticket prices for up to 4,000 seats. With this initiative, travelers can now benefit from attractive fixed base fares for all MYAirline routes between Kuala Lumpur and East Malaysia at MYR300* for one-way travel. Passengers will also enjoy a generous 20kg check-in baggage allowance, ensuring a seamless and comfortable journey.
Rayner Teo, Chief Executive Officer of MYAirline, stated, “We are honored to be a part of the government’s initiative to provide fixed fares during the Kaamatan Festival and Hari Gawai celebration. By offering fixed base fares of MYR300 for one-way ticket, MYAirline aims to contribute significantly to the travel demand and promote the unique cultural experience that Kaamatan Festival and Hari Gawai have to offer. This initiative will further boost connectivity between Peninsular and East Malaysia.”
Highlighting the airline’s steadfast dedication to supporting the country’s tourism industry, Rayner added, “At MYAirline, we have consistently supported the government’s calls to action, including reducing airfares and increasing flight frequencies during festive holidays. As a new airline where passengers’ experience matters, we firmly believe in making travel accessible and affordable for everyone.”
This fixed fare promotion is available for booking from 20 to 31 May 2023. The promotion will be valid during the travel period from 27 to 29 May 2023 for Sabah routes and from 29 to 31 May 2023 for Sarawak routes. This window presents an excellent opportunity for individuals and families to plan their trips and fly home to Sabah or Sarawak during these festive seasons.
MYAirline’s East Malaysian routes encompass a range of exciting destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Kuching, Sibu and Miri. By participating in this initiative, the airline aims to facilitate seamless travel experiences, promote domestic tourism and strengthen the bonds between different parts of Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are offering fixed fares capped at RM300 one-way* for flights to Sabah and Sarawak departing from Kuala Lumpur, operated by Malaysia Airlines, and from Penang operated by Firefly, which will be available for purchase beginning 20 May 2023.
The capped fares are applicable for travel on 27, 28 and 29 May 2023 to Kota Kinabalu (BKI), Labuan (LBU), Sandakan (SDK) and Tawau (TWU) via Malaysia Airlines, and between Penang (PEN) and BKI via Firefly.
