KOTA KINABALU: Two new clusters were reported today in Sabah involving an employee of a microcredit firm and a seafood establishment.
The area involved were Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Pitas, Kalabakan and Tawau.
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the first cluster has been called ‘Kluster Simpang Tiga’ and involved Kota Marudu, Kota Belud and Pitas.
The cluster recorded one positive Covid-19 case, bringing the total cumulative cases to 25.
“The index case is a worker for a microcredit organization in Matungong who lives in Kota Belud.
“The index was detected via a symptomatic screening at the Kota Belud Hospital of February 6. Further screening with close contacts found another 24 positive cases,” he said in a press statement today.
Masidi said that the second cluster is called ‘Kluster Jalan Apas Empat’ at Kalabakan and Tawau.
“The index case is a worker for a seafood company and was found positive of Covid-19 during a SOCSO screening on February 2.
“Further screening with close contacts found another 21 cases positive with Covid-19. Screening activities are still being carried out,” he said.
