Jeffery Nor welcomes continuous updates on the effects of the ‘heatwave’ in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Continuous updates deemed appropriate for the people of Sabah concerning the effects of the ongoing heatwave phenomenon are highly encouraged, stated Putatan UMNO Chief Jeffery Nor Mohamed.

He emphasized that this measure is crucial as the heatwave is expected to persist until June.

“In this regard, the Sabah state government, through the Sabah Water Department, must have preliminary strategies in place in case of clean water supply disruptions.

“For instance, how to mitigate the implications should be clearly stated and implemented if a clean water shortage crisis occurs,” he mentioned in a statement today.

Jeffery was commenting on the statement by Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam regarding the monitoring of clean water sources in Sabah due to the effects of the heatwave, which has now entered its third week.

He described the statement as timely and very reassuring.

In light of this, Jeffery hopes that all existing Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) across Sabah can be monitored effectively.

“And if there is a shortage of water volume at any WTP, notifications to users must be communicated promptly to facilitate water stockpiling and conservation measures on a regular basis.

“We request that early notifications be implemented by the Sabah Water Department in the event of water supply interruptions, so that the issue of clean water scarcity is not misunderstood and proactive measures can be taken by users for the common good,” he stated.
