KOTA KINABALU: The Youth Exco of Barisan Nasional Malaysia and the Chief of UMNO Lahad Datu, Datuk Sri Dr Anil Sandhu, has described the anticipated cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Pakatan Harapan (PH), and UPKO for the 16th General Election as a wise, mature, and forward-thinking step.
He said that a political collaboration based on stability and unity is crucial for ensuring the continuity of development in Sabah and the political harmony of the nation.
According to him, in the current political climate, the public no longer desires prolonged disputes; instead, they prioritize stability, consensus, and a focus on development and welfare.
“The collaboration among BN, GRS, PH, and UPKO is a strategic move that deserves support, as it can guarantee political stability and progress for the state,” he said in a recent statement.
Anil also clarified that the position of UMNO Sabah’s liaison chief, Datuk Jafry Ariffin, who is part of the state cabinet, along with BN Sabah chairman Datuk Arthur Joseph, who is in the federal cabinet, provides an advantage for discussions regarding this collaboration.
He noted that the success of forming a unity government in Sabah after the 17th State Election demonstrates that political differences can be set aside for the benefit of the people and the state.
“The state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has shown that a coalition of various parties can create a stable and effectively functioning administration. This instills confidence in the public that this model of cooperation should continue until the 16th General Election,” he stated.
He added that the continuity of this collaboration is also vital to ensure that the relationship between the Sabah state government and the federal government remains strong.
