KINABATANGAN: An express bus skidded off the road while trying to avoid a motorcycle that suddenly came out from a side road in an incident on Jalan Kampung Paris 2, Jalan Sandakan–Lahad Datu, in Kinabatangan on Sunday.
In the incident that occurred around 11:40 AM, a Scania bus owned by Amin Jaya, which was travelling from Kota Kinabalu to Semporna, lost control and veered off to the side of the road.
The District Police Chief of Kinabatangan, Ravi A/L Duraisamy, stated that initial investigations revealed that the unidentified motorcycle unexpectedly emerged from the left side of the road.
“The bus driver attempted to swerve left but was unable to control the vehicle before it skidded into a grassy area,” he said in a statement.
He mentioned that the bus was carrying 39 passengers, all of whom, including the driver, were reported safe with no injuries.
“All passengers are in good condition, and no injuries have been reported,” he added.
He said that the case is being investigated under Traffic Regulation 10 LN166/59, with the investigating officer being Mohd Rizal Mohamed Talib.
