KOTA KINABALU: Sipitang Member of Parliament, Datuk Matbali Musah, urges the community to leverage the Aidilfitri celebration as an opportunity to strengthen unity and harmony among the various ethnic and religious groups within the state.
He stated that Aidilfitri is not merely a festival following a month of fasting, but also an opportunity to strengthen ties among family, neighbors, and friends, regardless of their backgrounds.
In a special message for the Aidilfitri celebration, he emphasized the importance of fostering mutual respect and understanding to maintain societal harmony, particularly in Sipitang, known for its rich cultural and traditional diversity.
Matbali, who is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Cocoa Board, urged the public to take advantage of Aidilfitri by visiting relatives and friends who have not been seen for a long time, thereby rekindling familial and friendly bonds.
At the same time, he advised the public not to forget the less fortunate, such as the poor, the elderly, and those in need, so that the joy of Aidilfitri can be shared by all.
He further noted that the values of compassion and mutual assistance are essential elements in Islamic teachings and the culture of Malaysian society that should continue to be practiced.
Additionally, he reminded those returning to their hometowns during the festive season to exercise caution on the roads and adhere to traffic regulations for the safety of themselves and their families.
“Ensure that vehicles are in good condition, plan your journey carefully, and avoid driving when fatigued to prevent any unwanted incidents,” he advised.
In concluding his message, he wished everyone a Happy Aidilfitri, seeking forgiveness from all, especially the residents of the Sipitang parliamentary area.
