POIC Sabah and Adabi Mark Second Year of Bubur Lambuk CSR Programme in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU:  The community spirit and goodwill were in full display in a cook-off at POIC Lahad Datu on March 12 when 44 people joined in the preparation of bubur lambuk, a rice porridge synonymous with the breaking of the fast during the month of Ramadan.

Joining the annual festivity were POIC Sabah Chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau and the company’s Group CEO Datuk Fredian Gan.

They were joined by officials of companies in POIC Lahad Datu, POIC staff and local authority officials such, who together produced more than 2,400 portions of the appetising delicacy.

Also in attendance, giving their support, were POIC board members, Commander of ESSCOM Datuk Victor Sanjos, a representative from the Lahad Datu District Office, and official from the Lahad Datu Wildlife Department, Balai BOMBA dan Penyelamat Lahad Datu and Sabah Port.

The event had the material support of Adabi, one of Malaysia’s top food brands. Adabi has been an investor in POIC Lahad Datu since 2025.

Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred hailed Adabi’s role in upholding the spirit of Ramadan and supporting POIC Sabah’s efforts in shaping a vibrant investment community within POIC Lahad Datu. He pointed to the enormous business opportunities for POIC-based food manufacturers in the BIMP-EAGA territories, with a market of more than 80 million.

In typical Ramadan community spirit, Wilfred and Gan joined in the extended stirring of the spice-filled porridge, part of which was later handed out to the wider Lahad Datu community.
