KOTA KINABALU: Former Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, welcomed Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali’s suggestion for Sabah and Sarawak to unite as a bloc in anticipation of GE16.
He noted that in the current political climate, where no single party is expected to achieve a clear majority, the united strength of both states could play a crucial role in influencing the federal government and the nation’s trajectory.
“For this initiative to be successful, personal ambitions and party agendas must be put aside. The focus should be on state rights, the execution of MA63, and equitable development.
“We aspire to be respected partners within the Federation—not mere bystanders in national political frameworks,” he expressed in a post on Facebook.
Salleh emphasised the importance of considering the future of Sabah’s youth.
“The choices we make today will shape their prospects tomorrow,” he added.
