KUDAT: An elderly couple was found dead after their two-story home was completely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Lausan Batu 4 early this morning.
The incident occurred around 11:58 PM, when the Kudat Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call and arrived at the scene at 12:36 AM.
According to Operations Commander, PBK I Mohd Najib Jasri, the fire involved a temporary house measuring approximately 30 x 40 feet and was 100 percent burned.
“The fire team faced difficulties reaching the site due to a narrow bridge and low-hanging electrical wires obstructing the vehicle’s movement,” he said in a statement.
He mentioned that the extinguishing operation was carried out using a 400-foot hose with two water jets from the fire truck’s tank.
The two victims, a 74-year-old man and a 73-year-old woman, were found dead in the bedroom at 1 AM.
The first victim’s body was retrieved at 2 AM, while the second was recovered at 3:50 AM before being handed over to the police for further action.
