KOTA KINABALU: Putatan UMNO Chief Jeffery Nor Nohamed, stated that he does not oppose the demolition of houses in Kampung Sembulan, but 8 the need for a fair and immediate resolution for the affected residents.Ini
He said that while the legal process between landowners and the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) must be respected, the fate of the impacted residents should not be left unresolved without a clear future guarantee.
“I personally visited the houses scheduled for demolition soon.
“Residents have been informed to vacate their homes by this Sunday at the latest,” he said today.
Jeffery expressed his expectation that residents would cooperate to allow the demolition process to proceed, but stressed that public cooperation must be accompanied by the authorities’ responsibility.
He noted that continuing the demolition without a comprehensive resolution plan risks increasing social burdens.
“This raises questions about the priority of welfare for low-income urban residents,” he explained.
He urged all relevant parties to expedite negotiations to achieve a win-win solution, so that residents do not become victims of administrative delays and technical processes.
