KOTA KINABALU: The year 2026 is seen as a fresh starting point for Sabah to advance further, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor emphasizing the state government’s full readiness to implement the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development plan comprehensively, inclusively, and competitively.
In his New Year message for 2026, Hajiji stated that SMJ 2.0 will continue the development momentum established in 2025 through the execution of SMJ 1.0, which he claims has laid a solid foundation for the state’s progress.
“The year 2026 opens a new page for us to move forward with strong determination and a spirit of togetherness. The state government is prepared to ensure ongoing prosperity and a brighter future for Sabah,” he said.
He stressed that the direction of SMJ 2.0 is not solely focused on economic growth but also emphasizes unity among the people, integrity in governance, and inclusive development so that the benefits of progress can be fairly enjoyed by all Sabahans.
Hajiji also expressed gratitude to the people of Sabah for the new mandate given, describing it as a significant trust that will be carried out with full accountability and responsibility.
“With this mandate, the state government remains committed to strengthening political stability and driving comprehensive development for the welfare of the people,” he said.
In concluding his message, Hajiji wished health, well-being, and continued success to all the people of Sabah and extended his greetings for the New Year 2026
