KOTA BELUD: The Sabah Tik Tokes Association has welcomed the appointment of Sabah PKR Chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, as the Minister of Sabah and Sarawak Affairs.
The association’s president, Abdul Aziz Haji Bilin, said that Mustapha’s appointment is a positive development and he is confident that he can fulfill his duties in this challenging ministry, especially regarding issues that affect the interests of both states, including the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
He also described the appointment as timely and deserving of support from all parties, particularly in strengthening the good relations between the peninsula, Sabah, and Sarawak.
“We at the Sabah Tik Tokes Association believe that Datuk Mustapha can carry out this trust and responsibility as expected by the people in this state.
“We hope the Sabah government can work closely with Mustapha to continue the demands related to Sabah’s rights enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and to resolve the issue of the special 40 percent revenue from Sabah effectively,” he said.
Aziz, who is also the Information Chief of PKR Tempasuk, emphasized that this is important because the issue of the special 40 percent revenue from Sabah has been a key campaign topic for local parties to gain public support in the recent Sabah elections.
On October 17, the Kota Kinabalu High Court ruled that the Federal Government has an obligation to review and repay the Claim of 40 percent of net revenue obtained from Sabah according to Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
