Former Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Bung Moktar passes away

KOTA KINABALU: The former Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, passed away early today at a private hospital near here. He was 66.

The sad news of the passing of the Chairman of Sabah BN, who was also the Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, was shared by his son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, on his Facebook page.

“Assalamualaikum. It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that our father, Moktar bin Radin, breathed his last on December 5, 2026, at 1:46 AM (14 Jamadilakhir 1447H).

“We ask everyone to pray for his soul to be blessed and placed among the faithful. Al-Fatihah,” he said.

It is understood that the late Moktar was suffering from kidney failure and had been admitted to the hospital here since yesterday morning.

In addition to family members, political leaders and acquaintances have also been present at the hospital since the news of his admission spread late yesterday afternoon.

Earlier, the governor, Tun Musa Aman, also visited the Lamag assemblyman while he was undergoing treatment last night.
