KOTA KINABALU: The President of the Parti Warisan Sabah Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, has asserted that he has not held any meetings or negotiations with any political parties to form the state government following the announcement of the Sabah State Election results last night.
He stated that claims of secret meetings are unfounded and merely political speculation.
Shafie emphasized that Warisan’s current focus is to respect the people’s decision and ensure a smooth transition of power.
He reiterated that any official meetings between political parties will only take place during the upcoming Sabah State Assembly session, not through behind-the-scenes maneuvers.
“We will meet all parties later in the DUN session; that is the legitimate platform.
“There have been no meetings or negotiations to form a government as alleged,” he said at a press conference today.
Last night, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was officially sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Sabah after his political bloc secured a majority to form the government.
The swearing-in ceremony marks the establishment of a new state government, while other parties are now assessing their next steps in the post-election political landscape.
In the meantime, Shafie informed that Warisan will continue to play a responsible opposition role — or collaborate on fundamental issues if necessary — to ensure that the interests of the people of Sabah remain a priority.
“We do not want politics that confuses the people. What matters is the stability of the state and ensuring that the people’s mandate is respected,” he added.
Shafie’s statement also aims to quell the political speculation that has circulated since the election results were announced, as attention now shifts to the formation of the new state cabinet and the direction of the new Sabah government.
