SANDAKAN: The public, particularly those in Sungai Manila, are urged to choose leaders who embody a people-centred spirit.
Former Appointed State Assemblyman, Datuk Jaffari Waliam, said the issue of “local-born candidates” in Sungai Manila is no longer relevant in the constituency.
“What I see is that it is outsiders who have developed and advanced Sungai Manila,” he said while campaigning at the Sungai Manila Settlement Scheme here today.
He said this is evident in the efforts shown by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for Sungai Manila, Hazem Mubarak Musa.
Jaffari said Hazem has demonstrated his commitment to bringing progress and development to Sungai Manila.
“A leader like this is a leader who has the people at heart, and this is the kind of leader who deserves to be uplifted and chosen,” he added.
He added that it has long been outsiders with a people-centred spirit who have contributed to the development and advancement of Sungai Manila.
According to him, the people themselves can see what has been done for Sungai Manila.
“We can clearly see the efforts made by Hazem… therefore, the issue of being local-born is no longer an issue,” he said.
