SANDAKAN: Tanjong Papat candidate Poon Ming Fung has put forward a key pledge in his campaign manifesto—to promote the establishment of a “One-Stop Urban Transformation Centre (UTC)” in the Sandakan city area, aiming to provide faster and more convenient public services while saving time and money for residents.
Poon Ming Fung pointed out that several vacant buildings in the city, such as Wisma Sandakan and Wisma Khoo, have the potential to be repurposed into a UTC. He stated that he will communicate with the owners of these buildings to explore how to effectively utilise these spaces and transform them into multi-functional centres serving the public.
“These owners are my friends, and I believe we can work together to make meaningful contributions to the community,” Poon said.
Reflecting on his seven years of service, Poon emphasised that he has always cared for every resident with sincerity and a sense of responsibility, treating the elderly, youth, children, and even newborns equally and with utmost dedication. “We believe the public has witnessed our efforts and dedication,” he added.
Poon stressed that he is not only a policymaker but also a member of the community. As a lawyer and a father and grandfather with a full family life, his life experiences enable him to better understand the people’s sentiments and the real needs of the community. “I not only identify the issues but also, with my professional experience and network, know how to effectively solve problems and genuinely care for everyone,” he stated.
He further questioned whether a new leader would possess the same level of understanding and execution to continue driving regional development. “Would they truly have the same experience, capability, and passion to understand and meet the complex needs of the public?”
Poon Ming Fung concluded by urging voters: “On November 29, please recognise the Rafflesia symbol and support Candidate No. 4 for Tanjong Papat—Poon Ming Fung.
