By Dr Chong Eng Leong. Senior Advisor, Party Warisan, Kota Kinabalu Division, Sabah
KOTA KINABALU — Dr Chong Eng Leong, senior advisor to Party Warisan, Kota Kinabalu Division today issued a strong statement condemning the Democratic Action Party (DAP) for its shameful silence on two of the most critical issues facing Sabah today: the State’s constitutional 40% revenue entitlement and the explosive SMM corruption scandal involving GRS assemblymen.
Despite clear video evidence showing elected representatives receiving money, and despite the Federal Government’s refusal to honour Sabah’s constitutional rights, DAP Sabah has chosen complete silence.
This silence is not accidental.
It is deliberate.
It is political.
And it is a betrayal of the people of Sabah.
1. DAP Is Silent on the 40% Because They Serve Putrajaya, Not Sabah
When DAP was in opposition, they were loud about MA63 and Sabah rights.
Today, as part of the Federal Government:
They did not protest when the Attorney General’s Chambers filed a partial appeal to undermine Sabah’s victory in the courts.
They refuse to confront the Ministry of Finance or the Prime Minister on the issue.
For fear of offending their political masters in Malaya, DAP has abandoned Sabah’s constitutional entitlement.
A party that chooses Cabinet stability over Sabah’s rights cannot be trusted.
2. DAP’s Silence on SMM Corruption Is Proof They Are Politically Compromised
The SMM scandal is one of the most outrageous corruption cases in recent Sabah history.
The whole country has seen:
GRS assemblymen receiving money
Recorded on video
Without shame
Without accountability
Yet DAP has refused to say a single word.
Why?
Because DAP needs GRS to stay in power at the federal level.
If GRS collapses, the unity government becomes unstable — and DAP loses influence in Putrajaya.
So DAP chooses political survival over anti-corruption principles.
This selective morality exposes what DAP has become:
a Peninsular-centric party that is afraid to confront corruption when it involves their own allies.
3. DAP No Longer Represents Sabah — They Represent Peninsula Politics
DAP’s priorities are clear:
Protect Anwar’s fragile coalition
Avoid embarrassing their federal partners
Do not anger GRS
Keep quiet on matters involving Sabah’s sovereignty
Avoid taking sides when Sabahans demand justice
DAP’s Sabah MPs behave like visitors in Parliament — careful, obedient, and always silent when Sabah’s rights are trampled.
Sabah needs warriors, not political clerks taking orders from Kuala Lumpur.
4. Sabahans Must Reject Parties That Are Afraid to Confront Wrongdoing
A party that:
stays silent when Sabah’s money is taken
stays silent when corruption is caught on camera
stays silent when Sabah is denied its constitutional rights
is a party that does not deserve the trust or vote of Sabahans.
DAP has failed this basic test of integrity.
5. Dr Chong Calls on Sabahans to Choose Leaders Who Stand Up, Not Bow Down
Sabah deserves leaders who:
speak without fear or favour
defend MA63
uphold the 40% revenue return
fight corruption
confront Putrajaya when Sabah’s dignity is violated
DAP has shown it will not do any of these things.
As we approach the next state election, Dr Chong urges Sabahans:
Do not reward silence.
Do not reward weakness.
Do not reward betrayal.
Sabah needs a stronger, braver, more principled political movement — one that puts Sabahans first, not Peninsular politics.
Warisan stands firmly with the people of Sabah.
Our rights are not negotiable.
Our dignity is not for sale.
