PRN Sabah: Bung Moktar Claims He is the Target, Remains Confident in Defending Lamag

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, acknowledges that he has become the main target of opponents who wish to see Barisan Nasional (BN) fall in the 17th State Election (PRN).

The BN candidate for the Lamag constituency said that the information he has received indicates that the opposition’s machinery is now focusing heavily on that seat.

In the 16th Sabah PRN, Bung Moktar defeated four challengers with a majority of 661 votes, and Lamag is seen as one of BN’s strongholds in the eastern rural areas of Sabah.

However, this time in the PRN, the competition involves six parties: BN, GRS, Warisan, PN, Independents, and the Sabah Dream Party (PIS), making that seat one of the most fiercely contested.

According to Bung, the political attacks against him do not weaken his spirit; instead, they boost his confidence that the voters of Lamag will continue to support BN.

He said the development he has brought so far is proof of his commitment to the people, including various projects that have successfully transformed the face of the district.

He emphasised that the sentiments played by the opposition, such as the slogan “Sabah for Sabahans,” are merely rhetoric without any real offers to the people.

He clarified that many infrastructures have been successfully developed, but there are still some needs, such as a community college and a sports complex, that are being worked on to be realized.
