KOTA KINABALU: Two former Sabah football players, Gundohing Henry Soimpon and Jekerison Kilan, are the KDM candidates for Kiulu and Nabawan, respectively.
Henry, who is the vice president of KDM, will be competing in Kiulu.
The candidates in this area include Joniston Lumai @ Bangkuai (GRS–PBS), Dusi Gingging (PKS), Trevor Kenneth Maringking (Anak Negeri), Saibin Gunsari (Warisan), Joisin Romut (Upko), Niyky @ Niky J. Bosikol (PIS), and Terence Sinti (STAR).
Jekerison will contest the Nabawan seat, also representing KDM.
He is up against nine opponents: Junilin @ Jubilin Kilan (Upko), Laiji Ompongoh (BN), Alfian A Koroh (Warisan), Abdul Ghani Mohamed Yassin (GRS), Farney Akon (PKS), Rejoh Ondoh (PIS), Akuang Suan (STAR), and Sayau Tangkap (PN).
Also in the race for this state election is former RTM Kota Kinabalu news presenter, Francis Fahir, who is running for the Pantai Dalit seat for STAR.
Francis, the head of the STAR Pantai Dalit division, is in a seven-way contest against Mohd Zulkernain Osman (PN), Aliasgar @ Ali Ashgar Basri (Warisan), Jasnih Daya (GRS), Jaesman @ Jaess Gipin (KDM), Liam Tawil (PIS), and Alfian Sambas (BN).
