PENAMPANG: The Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (ANAK NEGERI) has named 26 candidates who will contest in the State General Election (PRU) in Sabah on November 29.

The announcement was made by ANAK NEGERI President Datuk Henrynus Amin here on Sunday.

The candidates include Datu Abdul Razak Datu Abdul Salam (Banggi), Orong Sahap (Bengkoka), Awang Karim Abdul Kadir (Tanjung Kapor), Priskila Akwila Senim (Kadamaian), Arthur Erik Lee (Tamparuli), Trevor Kenneth Maringking (Kiulu), Joseph Linggian @ Joseph Chong (Inanam), Lam Hon Ket (Likas), Wong Cheng Chee (Tanjung Aru), Sabrezani Sabdin (Petagas), Mil Kusin Abdillah (Tanjung Keramat), Wong Kong Fooh (Kepayan), Kathrine Jikinon (Moyog), Julianus Moncigil (Limbahau), Ag Damit @ Ag Sahzain Abd Razak (Pantai Manis), Nazarul Khaiwala Wahab (Kundasang), Shariffuddin @ Sapie Yusin (Karanaan), Rubica Gabayoi (Paginatan), Dionysia Ginsos (Tambunan), Nuralizah Lee Abdullah (Labuk), Hasman Sagaran (Sulabayan), Zakaria @ MD Jakaria (Bugaya), Mariane Sulaiman (Kukusan), Sahiran Untai (Sebatik), Bani Millang (Senallang), and Berahim Laugga (Sugut).

Henrynus said that the selected candidates comprise a mix of experienced leaders and new faces who are believed to be capable of advocating for the rights and voices of the people of Sabah.

He said that one of the party’s main missions is to assist the government in finding solutions to the issue of illegal immigrants in Sabah.

According to the 2020-2024 Malaysian and State Population Statistics, 27.88 per cent, or 1,043,400, of Sabah’s population are non-citizens.

This marks an increase of 233,000 compared to 2020, which had a total of 810,400.

As such, Henrynus suggested that the position of Director of the Sabah Immigration Department should be filled by a senior state government officer seconded to the federal service in Sabah.

He believes that such a move would maximise the state government’s authority over immigration, thus enhancing the transparency and effectiveness of immigration services in Sabah.
