KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak opined that in a state election, the citizens are the true owners of the project, determining whether to renew or replace the contractor based on their performance over the last five years.
He mentioned that the ruling party functions similarly to a contractor tasked with developing the state and serving its people.
“At the end of the term, the public must assess — was the work completed, were commitments honored, and did the community genuinely benefit?
“No contractor is flawless. However, the public can make comparisons — who has delivered the best results, demonstrated the strongest discipline, and exhibited the highest integrity,” he expressed in his recent Facebook update.
Salleh noted that occasionally, large projects necessitate a collaborative effort from multiple contractors to ensure successful completion.
“The same principle applies in politics — a coalition that understands how to collaborate can achieve superior results for the populace.
“What is most important is not the name, but the outcomes and performance. Select the contractor — or coalition of contractors — who has demonstrated capability, experience, and honesty in fulfilling their duties,” he concluded.
