A fresh political wave is sweeping through Sabah – more political leaders are joining Warisan

KOTA KINABALU: The influx of political leaders into the Warisan Party continues to rise as three more influential figures from the Sabah People’s Gagasan Party (PGRS) and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) officially joined the party dedicated to the struggles of the people of Sabah today.

They are the former Deputy Chief of the PGRS Pitas Division, Datuk Harun Ismail; the Information Chief of the PGRS Pantai Manis Division, Amri Abu Bakar; and the Chief of the LDP Tanjung Kapor Division, Datuk Peter Chin Kee Yong.

All three submitted their membership forms to the President of Warisan, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, during a brief yet significant ceremony held at the Warisan headquarters, near here.

Their entry is seen as another sign that an increasing number of experienced leaders are regaining confidence in Warisan as the primary platform for advocating the rights and future of the people of Sabah.

In his speech, Mohd Shafie stated that the participation of these three leaders is not merely a political matter but a sign of a resurgence of spirit to bring about real change in the state.

“I greatly appreciate the trust and support given by Harun, Amri, and Peter.

“They come with the same spirit and determination—to see Sabah rise and stand on its own strength,” he said.

He added that Warisan will continue to be an inclusive platform, welcoming any individual who wishes to contribute to the development of the state, regardless of party background or political ideology.

Meanwhile, Datuk Harun Ismail mentioned that his decision to join Warisan was made after a thorough evaluation of the current political direction in Sabah, which is becoming increasingly fragmented.

“I believe Warisan has a clear direction. Datuk Seri Shafie has proven his leadership not only in politics but also in voicing the people’s concerns at the national level,” he stated.
