Implement MA63 without further delay –  Matbali tells Putrajaya

KOTA KINABALU: Sipitang MP, Datuk Matbali Musah, urges Putrajaya to promptly fulfill the commitments outlined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) without any further postponement.

He said that the court has already made its decision and interpretation, and the law has provided the necessary framework, leaving only the political will to execute it.

“We are not asking for the moon to fall into our laps; we simply hope that Putrajaya will realize what is written in MA63, without delay, and without excuses that spin like an endless wheel,” he said.

He made these remarks during the debate on the 2026 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat, referencing the Prime Minister’s explanation on October 22 regarding the MADANI government’s stance on special allocations for Sabah and the implementation of MA63.

While expressing appreciation and gratitude to the Prime Minister for that explanation, Matbali noted that it demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to understanding the pulse of the Sabah people, who have long awaited follow-up actions on matters agreed upon in that historic agreement.

“Clearly, the Prime Minister’s explanation reveals a strong and thorough commitment — that the government under the leadership of Malaysia MADANI is genuinely concerned about the rights, interests, and status of Sabah as enshrined in MA63.

“For many years, the mention of MA63 has been like an old love poem — read with nostalgia, but its meaning has not been truly appreciated.

“However, I am confident that the current government, which embodies MADANI values, will translate that love into action, and it will no longer be just rhetoric,” he said.

He emphasised that Sabah is merely demanding the rights that are already documented in the agreement.
