KOTA KINABALU – The President of the Sabah People’s Hope Party (PHRS), Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, stressed that he will not hastily make decisions on his political direction ahead of the Sabah State Election (PRN).
He said that any decisions will be made after the party leadership and top management reach an official conclusion regarding collaboration and the candidates to be presented.
“I believe it is better to wait for the official decision first. The leadership will make a decision, and I will follow. I cannot precede them,” he said when met by the media here on Sunday.
Liew said that he respects the party’s process and discipline, which always prioritises collective decision-making based on negotiations.
He noted that matters concerning candidates for the Merotai State Assembly (DUN) are still under discussion, and no official announcement has been made by any party.
“The Chairman of the Sabah State Leadership Council (MPN), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, has not made any official announcements yet,” he said.
He added that Mustapha has also confirmed that they are still awaiting decisions from the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as well as discussions between GRS and the PKR leadership.
“Only after that decision is made will I determine my political direction.
“I am a party person, so everything must receive approval from the leadership,” he clarified.
Liew also explained that as an experienced politician, he prefers to make decisions based on organisational discipline rather than personal desires.
“I do not act in the name of an individual. I have a party, and I respect the structure and leadership that has been entrusted to me,” he said.
He further noted that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) sets a good example by having a special committee to manage political negotiations among component parties.
