Jeffery Nor expresses full support for Bung’s statement on Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement

KOTA KINABALU:  Putatan UMNO Chief, Jeffery Nor Mohamed, has expressed full support for the statement by the Sabah UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who firmly requested that there be no appeal against the High Court’s decision regarding Sabah’s right to receive 40 percent of the net revenue from the Federal.government.

“As I have stated on social media, we in UMNO Sabah consistently support any good efforts to demand the 40% payment from the federal government according to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said in a statement today.

Jeffery said that the High Court’s decision opens a new chapter in legally realizing this demand.

“I also agree and support YB Bung’s statement that it is time for discussions and final decisions to be made between the state government and the federal government.

“I see this issue not as a political tool for gaining credit, but rather it should be focused significantly through negotiations on how this 40% demand can be consistently resolved by the federal government,” he said.

Jeffery, who is also the Sabah UMNO Election, welcomed the statement from UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, which stated that the 40% demand will be included in the BN Sabah manifesto.

“I am truly excited about this High Court decision and urge the Attorney General not to appeal this decision, as it reflects the sincerity of both parties in resolving the issue harmoniously and healthily.

“I hope this issue will no longer be used as a political tool to gain popularity in the upcoming state elections,” he said.
