Sabah state election – EC sets polling day for November 29, nomination day on Nov 15

KOTA KINABALU: Polling day for the Sabah state elections is on November 29, the Election Commission (EC) announced today.

SPR Chairman, Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, said nomination day will be on Nov 15, giving candidates 14 days to campaign officially.

Early voting was set for November 25.

To make the Sabah election a success, the Election Commission has appointed 25 returning officers (RO) and 196 deputy RO.

“The EC has also brought on board 86 campaign enforcement officers,” he said during a press conference here.

Further commenting, Ramlan noted that the Electoral Roll (DPPR) to be used for this PRN will include the additional voter list from August 2025, updated until Oct 5.

The DPPR for this by-election comprises a total of 1,784,843 million voters.

The Sabah PRN is being held following the dissolution of the Sabah State Assembly, which was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on October 6.

In the 16th PRN, GRS successfully formed a new government in Sabah after winning 38 out of 73 seats, including those won by BN candidates, defeating Warisan Plus, which secured 32 seats, while 3 seats were won by independent candidates.
