PH in two political ponds, Bung Moktar does not rule out the possibility of complications

KOTA KINABALU – Sabah UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, does not dismiss the chance of minor complications arising ahead of the 17th State Election (PRN17), following their coalition partner, Pakatan Harapan (PH), aligning with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

Bung Moktar, who is also the Chairman of Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN), stated that while there are no major issues, the situation could lead to confusion and requires a strategic approach to address it.

“There are no problems, just complications. There are some doubts, which we discussed passionately earlier. God willing, we will find a way to resolve this,” he said at a press conference at the UMNO Building here on Monday.

He described this election as dynamic and reflective of the current political reality in the state.

“This Sabah election is indeed dynamic, and its dynamics may cause some complications, so we will wait for the situation. If necessary, we will do what is best for the party,” he said.

He made these comments when asked whether PH’s position in ‘two pools’ could potentially create difficulties for Barisan Nasional (BN).

Further commenting on the proposed number of seats, Bung Moktar informed that BN has proposed to contest 48 seats but did not disclose the number of seats suggested by Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“The number is about that (the claim of 23 seats requested by PH from GRS)… I am not sure, but they have requested quite a lot.

“However, there is already an agreement; we just need to finalize how many more seats we will discuss together,” he said, adding that 81 percent of the candidates are new faces.
