Former RTM anchorman Francis Fahir is STAR’s candidate for Pantai Dalit

TUARAN: In spite of the political turmoil within Sabah STAR, the party’s Divisional Chief for Pantai Dalit, Francis Fahir, is confident that it has strengthened the party.

“The party’s efforts to improve the lives of the people have never waned,” he stated today.

He mentioned that even though five former YBs from the party have departed, the party’s president, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffery Kitingan, remains unfazed.

“STAR is never lacking in capable leaders to step in and contest against the five who chose to leave Dr. Jeffery,” Francis remarked.

In addition, former Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Kalakau Untol announced that Francis will be STAR’s candidate for the Pantai Dalit constituency.

“He is a local. STAR is confident of winning,” added Kalakau, a former Federal Deputy Minister.

As a retired Senior Assistant Director of the Sabah Broadcasting Department, Francis is well-acquainted with Sabah politics.

Francis, a renowned journalist in broadcast and telecast, is knowledgeable about local political matters.

In previous state elections, he served as one of the RTM anchor commentators.

“Francis should have entered politics a long time ago. However, he opted to continue working until his mandatory retirement,” Kalakau noted.

When asked about his decision to run for office, Francis replied, “My primary goal is to achieve justice for Sabah and to promote the idea of Sabah for Sabahans.”

He agreed with the statements made by Sarawak Governor Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 must be honored by the Federal Government.

Francis also supported the notion expressed by former PKR leader Daniel Jani of Sarawak, who stated that it is time for Sabah to have a new State Government composed solely of Sabah-based parties.

“That reflects the aspirations of the people of Sabah,” Francis concluded.
