TUARAN: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organization (UPKO) has stated that the proposal on the use of logos in the upcoming State Election (PRN) should be approached thoughtfully and based on the spirit of consensus within the Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Tusran UPKO Youth Chief, Rayner Ebi, said that the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan and Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, had previously granted autonomy to PH Sabah to determine its political approach and strategies at the state level.
“During the PH Sabah leadership meeting on May 29, 2025, the Prime Minister himself indicated that PH Sabah has four leaders representing four component parties, and the overall coordination will be led by the Chairman of PH Sabah, Datuk Ewon Benedick,” he said.
Rayner added that this statement reflects the trust and respect of the central leadership towards the unique political landscape of Sabah, and UPKO adheres to this spirit in all considerations.
“The proposal to use the party logo should not be viewed as a sign of disloyalty, but rather as part of a political strategy that takes into account local identity. PH Sabah consistently practices the principles of discussion and consensus,” he stated.
He also noted that PKR had previously used the party logo in the Johor PRN in 2022, while Amanah and DAP utilised the Pakatan Harapan logo.
“This example demonstrates that PH is indeed open to diverse strategies under one cooperative umbrella. Therefore, the issue of loyalty does not arise in this matter,” he further explained.
Rayner expressed confidence that the top leadership of PH does not perceive this issue as a conflict, but rather will address it with wisdom as is customary within the coalition.
“We leave this matter to the PH Presidential Council to review and make a decision,” he concluded.
