KOTA KINABALU: As expected, Warisan under the ‘sponsorship’ of UMNO, is unlikely to form an alliance with STAR and SAPP under the proposed Gabungan Sabah Baru.
Warisan may seek to pursue local alliances to enhance its electoral prospects, but UMNO, its primary ‘sponsor’ for this election, would strongly oppose such a move.
UMNO has strategic interests and exerts significant influence over Warisan’s campaign funding, ultimately aiming to control the state government.
An alliance with STAR and SAPP could potentially undermine UMNO’s control and weaken its objective of dominating the state government in the future.
This dynamic underscores the complex political landscape of Sabah, where alliances are not shaped by ideological considerations but by financial backing and strategic interests.
