KOTA KINABALU: The people of Sabah require leaders who are genuine and able to fulfil their promises to the community or walk the talk.
Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak emphasised that while many leaders excel in rhetoric, not all are prepared to take action.
“Change cannot be achieved through mere words – it demands genuine effort,” he stated in his recent Facebook update.
Salleh pointed out that when improvements are necessary, the initiative must start within the community itself.
“Relying on others will only hinder progress. The duty to act begins from within.
“True efforts do not require public display. What truly counts is authenticity and impactful outcomes. Often, the most significant changes come from quiet actions,” he remarked.
According to Salleh, the public is not seeking perfection; rather, they desire leaders who are present, comprehend the actual circumstances, and are committed to assisting to the best of their abilities.
“Work should not be performed for accolades or recognition. It is undertaken out of a sense of duty. Needs must be recognized and addressed appropriately.
“Words are simple to utter. However, what people remember is the actions taken. Even modest, sincere efforts can lead to substantial change.
“This is not about working under duress. It is about realizing that supporting one another and shaping the future is a collective responsibility,” concluded the former Usukan assemblyman.
