KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission (SPR) is set to convene a special meeting on October 16 to discuss several important dates and matters related to the 17th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) General Election in Sabah.
The Secretary of SPR, Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus, stated that this meeting is being held following the official notification received from the Speaker of the Sabah DUN, Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya, yesterday regarding the dissolution of the 16th Sabah DUN.
“As stipulated under Article 21 Clause (4) of the Sabah State Constitution, a general election must be held within 60 days from the date of the dissolution,” he said in a statement today.
This election will feature contests for all 73 DUN seats. The Sabah DUN consists of 79 seats, with 73 being contested while the remaining six are appointed members.
