KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) has set a deadline for its five leaders, who also serve as State Assembly Members, to return to the party by tomorrow after they opted to stay with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
The party’s president, Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, mentioned that the party did not hinder their choice, but stressed that if they ignore the people’s grievances and disregard their sentiments, then the decision should be left to the people.
“We will convene a meeting to make that decision. There are numerous individuals ready to take their places.
“Initially allowed them a week and a half, and that period has already elapsed. Since we allocated those seats to them, we will naturally transfer them to the new candidates.
“Let’s wait until tomorrow,” he informed reporters upon his arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) on Tuesday.
He made this statement when asked about the status of the five leaders after four of them were spotted attending a meeting with the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, at Menara Kinabalu during the announcement of the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on Monday.
Those who attended the event included the Deputy President of the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR), Datuk Ellron Angin, who is also the Sook State Assemblyman; Datuk Abidin Madingkir (Paginatan), Datuk Annuar Ayub (Liawan), and Flovia Ng (Tulid). In contrast, another STAR Deputy President, Datuk Robert Tawik, who is also the Bingkor State Assemblyman, although absent from the event, is reported to have taken similar steps to continue his support for GRS.
