Local party keeps capitalising on the “Sabah for Sabahan” slogan, but videos keep appearing everywhere – Bung Moktar

KOTA KINABALU: “Repeatedly saying ‘Sabah for Sabahan’, ‘local party’, and ‘we take care of each other’, but videos keep surfacing.”

This was a sarcastic remark by the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman during his speech at the Launching Ceremony of the Extraordinary Women Inspiration Program for Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) Jelita GiatMara 2025 here on Saturday.

He said this to emphasise that the people of Sabah need leaders who are open-minded and prioritise cooperation between the state and the federal government, rather than just engaging in politics with mere slogans.

In this regard, Bung, who is also the Sabah UMNO Chief, said that the party machinery, especially the women’s wing, should make BN the choice for voters across Sabah in this upcoming state election.

“We need to position UMNO and BN as the voters’ choice, and our preparations are already clear. For three years, my colleagues in UMNO and BN have been preparing our machinery; thankfully, it seems there are no obstacles.

“Therefore, this thorough preparation needs to be organised well. Women should not contradict the existing system; instead, cooperation is crucial so that we can continue to move forward. That’s it; we cannot stop halfway,” he said.

The Kinabatangan MP also stressed the importance of BN winning the Sabah State Election (PRN) to ensure harmony in leadership between the state government and the federal government for smooth administration and development in the state.

“The state government and the federal government need to be aligned. The slogan ‘Sabah for Sabahan’ cannot just be rhetoric; we cannot speak nonsense.

“We all need to have harmony. There must be a clear understanding between the state and federal governments. Only then can allocations be delivered, and negotiations can proceed,” he said.
