The opposition distorts the actual facts to gain public sympathy, says Masiung

KOTA KINABALU: The opposition’s actions of pointing fingers and spreading negative stories about the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, regarding issues of roads, water, and electricity are seen as a tactic to gain political credit and sympathy from the public who are unaware of the true facts.

The Vice President of the Sabah People’s Gagasan Party (Gagasan Rakyat), Datuk Masiung Banah, stated that all three issues fall under the responsibility of the Federal Government, yet the facts have been twisted to poison the public’s perception of Hajiji.

“The actions of opposition leaders and their followers to instill hatred towards the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government over the issues of roads, water, and electricity actually mean they are attacking the Federal Government.

“The opposition’s actions are politically motivated to garner support ahead of the 17th State Election (PRN), despite having faced similar issues when they were in power previously.

“They (opposition activists) are peddling the narrative that these three main issues in the state fall under Federal jurisdiction, even though they were part of the Federal Government themselves,” he said in a media statement today.

Masiung mentioned that they should be raising these issues with the Federal Government to help resolve the problems affecting the people in Sabah, as they hold parliamentary seats.

However, he noted that due to their desperation to regain power after being rejected by the public, they have chosen to blame the State Government in hopes that the people will believe their malicious agenda.

Nevertheless, he clarified that the State Government does not shirk its responsibility regarding these main issues, but solutions cannot be implemented simultaneously in a short period.

He stressed that most of the damaged roads in Sabah are classified as Federal roads under the jurisdiction of the Central Government.
