KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Prime Minister and BN Chairman, stated that Barisan Nasional (BN)’s approach for the forthcoming state election involves collaboration with groups identified as the ‘third force’ within the state.
He mentioned that this strategy aims to secure victories in targeted constituencies.
Consequently, Ahmad Zahid indicated that BN will not be contesting all 73 seats in the Sabah election during PRN, but will concentrate on constituencies that show a strong potential for success.
“Crucially, these are constituencies with a high likelihood of winning, and we will work together with the ‘third force’ in Sabah to ensure these areas favor BN candidates,” he remarked.
He did not provide further details or specify which party or individuals constitute the ‘third force’.
Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence that BN will exceed the 14 seats it secured in the last election, with new potential seats being identified.
Simultaneously, discussions with Pakatan Harapan (PH) have progressed to an initial agreement to prevent electoral conflicts, although more specifics will be finalized only after the official dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
