KOTA KINABALU: Former Deputy Chief of the Sepanggar Branch of the People’s Justice Party (PKR), Remy Martin Gunsalam, officially announced on Tuesday that he is leaving the party to join the Warisan Party (Warisan).
The announcement was made during a special press conference here, which was also attended by Warisan’s Deputy President, Datuk Darell Leiking, along with the party’s leadership team.
Remy said that his decision to leave PKR was not an easy one, but he believes that joining Warisan is the best step to advocate for the rights and future of the people of Sabah.
“I took a long time to assess the current political situation.
“In the end, I am confident that Warisan is a more effective platform to voice the concerns of the people of Sabah, especially regarding rural development, job opportunities, and state rights,” he said.
Remy emphasised that Sabah needs a political platform that truly resonates with the aspirations of the local people, and Warisan has consistently championed these issues since its inception.
“This is not about position or title, but about ensuring that the voices of the people of Sabah continue to be heard at both the state and national levels,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Darell, in his speech, remarked that Remy Martin’s joining is a positive development that demonstrates an increasing number of young leaders viewing Warisan as the party of the future for Sabah.
