TONGOD: A total of RM520,000 has been allocated for a special initiative to support newlywed couples in the Tongod district since 2020.
Kuamut Community Development Leader (PPM), Tokyo Hasim Omar, stated that as of August this year, 520 newlywed couples have been recorded in the district and have benefited from this initiative.
“This special assistance is part of the personal manifesto of Kuamut’s Representative, Datuk Masiung Banah, who ran and won as an Independent candidate in the state election (PRN) in September 2020.
“Newlyweds entering the marriage life will receive a special initiative of RM1,000 for each couple,” he explained.
According to Tokyo, who is also the Deputy Chief of the Sabah People’s Vision Party (Gagasan Rakyat) in Kuamut, Datuk Masiung Banah recently presented this special initiative to the newlywed couple, Mohd Khairil Mohd Saharie and Kamsinah Mahalil, during their wedding ceremony.
He mentioned that the Kuamut Representative’s Office will record each couple who has tied the knot in the district over time to ensure they are listed as recipients of this special assistance.
“We have received instructions from Masiung to deliver this special initiative without regard to political beliefs, ethnicity, or religion to the newlywed couples.
“The condition is that both newlyweds must be original residents of the Tongod district,” he added.
