KOTA KINABALU: Former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has confirmed his return as the leader of the Democrat Party, as stated by former Democrat MP for Trang, Sathit Wongnongtoei.
According to a report by the Bangkok Post, Mr. Sathit mentioned on Monday that Mr. Abhisit made this choice following Chalermchai Sri-on’s resignation from the party leadership.
This change also necessitates the election of a new executive board for the party. Mr. Chalermchai submitted his resignation letter last Friday.
“Mr. Abhisit’s return will instill hope and uplift the spirits of party members amidst ongoing political turmoil and challenges,” Mr. Sathit remarked.
Former Democrat MP for Songkhla, Sirichoke Sopha, noted that Mr. Abhisit is a strong candidate for the party leadership and possesses the qualifications to lead the nation.
